Celebrating the Completion of a Revolutionary Broadcast Project for BBC Cymru Wales
In yet another testament to LundHalsey's commitment to innovation and excellence in delivering broadcast technology solutions, we are thrilled to highlight our recent collaboration with system integrator DB Broadcast on the BBC Cymru Wales's New Broadcasting House in Cardiff, Wales. This ambitious project, one of the most sophisticated broadcast centres to date, has once again set new standards in the industry.
A New Broadcasting Centre
The BBC Cymru Wales New Broadcasting House, a 150,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility, is designed to be the beating heart of Welsh broadcasting. It spans five floors, accommodating over 1000 members of staff. This major development project not only enhances operational efficiency but also injects an unprecedented level of creative freedom for content creators.
Collaborative Effort and Design Innovation
This two-year project saw LundHalsey team up with our Red Dot award-winning industrial design partners, LA Design, and system integrator DB Broadcast, to conceptualise and install a bespoke range of broadcast control room consoles and technical furniture solutions. Under the leadership of Will Lund, our team's expertise and dedication to innovation were instrumental in delivering a series of solutions that combine form with function like never before.
Custom Solutions and Operational Enhancements
Our contribution to the BBC Cymru Wales project was multifaceted. We delivered a series of state-of-the-art, height-adjustable radio custom consoles incorporating DMX controlled LED lighting, to allow for various colour schemes dependent on the channel being broadcasted. This feature not only contributes to the aesthetics of the workspace but also supports branding and operational cues for staff and visitors alike.
Tailored Design and Ergonomic Focus
Following extensive stakeholder design workshops, our consoles were tailored to embody sculpted and formed shapes. This approach was not just about achieving a modern look; it was about creating ergonomically designed and practical environments that enhance productivity and workflow efficiency and crucially well-being for the users. The level of customisation and attention to detail in these consoles underscores LundHalsey’s commitment to delivering solutions that perfectly align with our clients' objectives and workflows.
